2010-05-24 [Falx]: I think I'd like to see more of the swan in his beak. However, even without that, the elegant S shape of the neck certainly hints at the swan. The rocks seem a bit flat to me. Maybe try extending the cliff edge a little in the foreground so it looks more like he's sitting on top of the rocks than clinging to the side, I think.

2010-06-06 [pegasus1000]: The feet look like they are part of the wing I am not sure if this is because they are actually part of the wing though. I like the ears, but not the bangs because it looks like you drew the eye over the hair... The head of a gryphon is an eagle so I would have to assume that the bangs should be feathers... But with that all said I actually do like this drawing it has real character and is very creative.

*rudely butts in months later* Can too use them for shading! <_< You just have to be careful and know what you're doing. Half of [iippo]'s art she does with the dodge and burn, and most people don't notice that's what she's used. 

2010-08-12 [Chel.]: I try to steer clear of those tools too. I can just- REALLY tell when someone uses it and it makes me cringe. Using dark colors like blue and purple to shade is much more lively!

2010-08-12 [windowframe]: If they use them badly, yeah. They take skill to use well, but it can be done. Like I said, [iippo] uses them, and I've seen other artist's use them and no one realises the piece has been done with dodge and burn until they mention it.

How do evil dead things and skeletons walk around in movies anyways? Skeletons need the living tissue around their feet and there's no muscle to support them. :) So, anything imaginary is "possible" in the "fantasy" world. There are a lot of fantasy/sci-fi movies and cartoons that defied science with their creatures, magical properties, and technology. ^_^
Fantasy, horror, and sci-fi "realities" are all about defying actual reality. See what I'm saying? :)

2010-11-21 [Chel.]: Because the figure's colors are so muted, our eyes go to the brightest color(the red). If say- the eyes or the green lights in his collar were the brightest, our eyes would go there(which is the goal).
So yea...tone down the background so that it's less attention grabbing! :3

2010-12-26 [Aeolynn]: Very cute! Definitely on the prowl in search of foods! The glow looks nice, but I would go back and add different shades of the yellow and increase the amount of shadow on him. Give him more contrast and he will give you more depth!

I think they may be a little far back on the back, they don't look atatched. I like the claws the best, like it is really climbing down the branch.

It looks good, it just doesn't have enough shadowing. shadowing is something I'm reteaching myself (if you know what I mean) to do. How they follow the scales and the smaller detailing. I think you kept the color to the darker tone of red (smokey red) it would seem like the red were emanating from within the dragon a little more then being “painted” on. What a great job you did on the background and how the dragon is breathing fire.

When it comes to owning exotic pets I am compelled to make notes: Not everyone should own a Ball Python. Lots of people don't know what to do with the snakes once they are larger then three feet. :(

hehe I own a ball python. Requires a 30-40 gal. Males get up to 3 ft (my male is miraculously 3.5 ft), females up to 5 foot. I met a 5 foot. Absolutely amazing! :D

They are actually very easy to take care of. I've had mine for 4 years. He's a big baby
